Diabetes is increasing being referred to as an epidemic in the Bahamas. Nearly every family is affected by this disease. Additionally the resulting complexities of the disease, the physical and psychological costs, its social and financial burden often leave persons perplexed as to how they can successfully live a successful healthy life style while managing diabetes. It is for this very reason that the Bahamas Diabetic Association was formed
The Bahamas Diabetic Association is a resource center that serves as a link for both the patient and the physician to valuable information on diabetes education care and self management. One of our goals is to keep you informed of current trends in diabetes treatment. We are conventiently located on East Street North and our office is open every weekday between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm. Our monthly meetings are held the third Saturday of every month with the exception of August and December.
We also aim to provide patients with access to information about health care providers, diabetes supplies and to keep you abreast with relevant information about seminars and conferences that we feel will benefit you whether you are patient or a physician. Additionally we provide gucose testing on a daily basis and stock and sell glucose machines and testing strips.
We have initiated this website as a resource for persons with diabetes and their families. Please note that our website should be utilized as a resource for diabetes management and we encourage you to constantly stay in contact with your health care provider for any diagnosis or treatment needs.
