Diabetes is a manageable disease. However one of the most critical key components for success in living with diabetes is education. Without accurate information patients cannot effectively manage their daily lives.

The first level of successful health management for diabetes patients is basic health care. Proper health care management involves learning how to recognize and deal with health warning signs such low and high blood sugar issues, healthy lifestyle practices and simply where to turn for help and advice.

Another key component to success is the continual updating of personal knowledge of diabetes as improved ways to treat diabetes are constantly being developed. Excellent ways to stay connected with diabetes learning resources include constant communication with your health care providers, attending seminars on diabetes and of course, connecting with diabetes associations such is the Bahamas Diabetic Association.

BDA both hosts and provides information about specific diabetes Clinics and Seminars  that specialize in management of patients with diabetes as well as pamphlets and brochures about diabetes.
